POLICE OFFICERS ARE BEING KEPT OFF THE BEAT

"POLICE officers spend no more time on the beat now than they did two years ago – and red tape problems may even have got worse, a Government adviser warned yesterday".

No surprises here, I watched one of the many Police on Camera programs on Sky last week.
Two officers were kept busy for four hours just to arrest one drunk who was finally issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

HACKER GETS NEW HOPE ON EXTRADITION

"Home Secretary Alan Johnson has said he is considering granting computer hacker Gary McKinnon extra time to apply for a judicial review of his case".

Home Secretary Boots Out Hacker's Appeal

"The Home Secretary has rejected a last-ditch appeal for him to block the extradition of Gary McKinnon to the US on computer hacking charges.
Alan Johnson said he had considered demands for him to intervene in the case but had decided the extradition would not breach Mr McKinnon's human rights".

"Autistic Hacker 'Should Not Face US Trial'

An autistic Briton accused of hacking into American military computer networks should not be extradited to the US to face trial, a Home Office terror law adviser has said
In a letter to Home Secretary Alan Johnson, Lord Carlile warned that allowing Gary McKinnon to be put before the American courts would be "disproportionate, unnecessary and avoidable".
